If you're considering sending paid traffic to a website there are 2 things you need to have in place first, if you want to make more more in sales than you spend on advertising.
- A sales funnel which captures email leads using a lead capture page (aka a ‘squeeze' page) and then directs your leads to a premium offer, sometimes by incorporating new subscriber special offers known as ‘one time offers' which give your new leads an opportunity to access your premium digital product at a heavily discounted rate, thereby building your buyer lead list and providing you with extra funds to advertise the funnel more heavily.
- A follow up sequence to build rapport with your leads and create more opportunities for them to buy the product in your sales funnel and other products from you in the future.
An important thing to remember is that many sales funnels do not turn an overall profit with the front end offer but are extremely profitable over time as they provide you with lots of new email leads who go on to buy things from you in the future.
This is how you ‘build' an email marketing income and why a lot of marketers say:
“The MONEY is in the List but the FORTUNE is in the Follow Up.”
However, this is true ONLY if the product in your sales funnel is of a high quality and actually adds real value to your customer ie. helps them to solve a problem.
If you are a product vendor then make sure your product ‘does what it says on the lid' and offer free support to your customers on how to use it, especially if it requires some guidance to set up as might be required for products such as WordPress plugins and online advertising services.
When choosing digital products to promote as an affiliate, let's say on Clickbank or JVZoo you should check the product out for yourself to ascertain whether it does what it claims to do before you promote it rather than just checking the average EPCs (earnings per click) other affiliates are achieving. At the end of the day there is no point in going to the trouble of selling things just to then lose your affiliate commissions due to refunds and penalties because you recommended a product that was all bling and no substance.
How Do Email Autoresponders Work?
By now you might be wondering what all this has to do with ‘email autoresponders‘. In case you're not already aware of what an autoresponder is, basically it's a follow up tool, an email marketing software service that enables you to follow up with your leads automatically with updates and promotions.
Having an effective email autoresponder is VITAL if you want to use sales funnels because you need to follow up with A LOT of email leads if you want to make a lot of money online and autoresponders automate this whole process.
These are a lot of autoresponder companies out there. You could even host your own if you have the right script but I personally choose to use a premium 3rd party autoresponder service as they have people working for them whose job it is to keep your emails arriving in the inboxes of your leads and customers instead of their spam boxes by maintaining good relationships with major personal email providers such as Gmail.
Inside your autoresponder back office you have systems for creating email marketing campaigns which include an email opt-in form creator which enables you to put opt-in forms into your webpages using html, thereby creating your lead capture pages.
You can set your autoresponder lists to either ‘double opt in‘ or ‘single opt in‘.
Double opt in means an email lead who subscribes to your list will have to log into their email accounts to click a link in a confirmation message sent by your autoresponder, to confirm they wanted to give you their email address in the first place.
Personally, I only use a single opt-in system for capturing leads as I think double opt-in systems are more for the benefit of the autoresponder company than you, and a single step system (without the need for your subscriber to confirm their email address) gets you more leads more quickly.
You also have a follow up email builder enabling you to write media-rich email messages which are set up to be sent to your leads according to your chosen schedule eg. every day, every 2 days or whatever you prefer.
The other important function your autoresponder will have is the ability to send ‘broadcasts' to your lists.
This is how, when a new affiliate launch occurs, some of the top affiliates will bank 20000 USD in commissions with just 1 or 2 email blasts. They have large responsive lists that they built using an email autoresponder which they can message whenever they want with a short but punchy email promotion that makes them in a few hours what most people take months to make.
If you ever want to be able to have that kind of hands-free income then you are going to need a professional autoresponder service. I use Aweber because they get my mails delivered very efficiently, they have first rate support with very quick responses to my enquiries and the cost is very reasonable for the service they provide.
